On this day in 2009, I was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. I was told without treatments I had eight months to live. With treatments, I was facing a five year survival rate of 5%. Over the last five years I’ve learned I’m not a statistic, I’m a child of God. I have chosen to focus on the path He has provided for me and to never look back. With great gratitude, I look forward to today, tomorrow, and all of 2015.
Dear Heavenly Father, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, the One who is, who was, and is to come. You are my Father and the One I turn to for strength and courage. I’m so grateful for the mercy and strength You have provided me and for everything You have blessed me with. Father, I’m a sinner but You have forgiven me. I’m unworthy of your almighty healing powers, but You have healed me. Regardless of where I’ve been in my life journey, You have always provided me with your unconditional love. I want You to know that I’m not afraid to go where you send me. Show me how to reach the unreachable, forgive the unforgivable, heal the unhealable, and love the unlovable. Father, although I’m unworthy of your trust, I want You to trust me with more. In my coming days of life, please allow me to see what your mercy sees and help me to give what You gave to me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
